Let It Be Light

We’re halfway through our Hermit year and after six months of slow growth, the vibe is shifting. Can you feel it?
Even if you can’t, the earth can. We just passed through the solstice, the longest or shortest day of the year depending on your hemisphere. The sun’s light is changing and so is our view of the things around us.
Solstice celebrations are about gathering, and after months of hard/freeing/lonely/enlightening (honestly, pick your adjective poison) solo exploration, it’s time to gather and see what our individual lessons look like through the lens of collective integration.
Light—whether it's the midday sun or a cozy evening fire or the Hermit’s lantern—reminds us that darkness cannot exist without its counterpoint. That no matter how heavy we feel, levity is always available to us. When Hermit work starts to feel too weighty to carry alone, it’s time to recommit to our themes of:
Entrances and exits: Brining the clarity found in solitude back to the collective.
Sightless seeing: Divine presence as our guiding light amid darkness.
Individual intuition vs. collective consciousness: Remembering our intuition is informed by what we’ve learned from the collective, and the collective is informed by each individual’s contribution.

What Kind of Hermit Are You?

Though the solstice is about coming together, much more solo learning will unfold between now and the end of the year. If that spikes fear your little heart, remember the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson:
“What lies before us, and what lies behind us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
Understanding the hermit that lies within reveals the unique wisdom we have to share with others. But how do we know what kind of hermit we are?
A quiz, of course. (Be still my Teen Magazine heart!)

What does each Hermit archetype bring to the collective?
Nature Babe: Helps us move at the speed of Earth Time. Understands what we have to learn from nature and that we’re a part of it.
Wisdom Keeper: Connects dots and gleans insight from many forms of information—books, music, art, science—to reveal universal truths.
Shadow Seeker: Uncovers what’s hiding in the spiritual shadow of the collective. Embodies what’s present but unexplored, painful but unfelt, dreamed of but yet to be actualized.
Torch Bearer: Alchemizes personal pain to connect with and lead others out of moments of darkness.
Oracle Artist: Creates a vision for the collective future through their art.

I think I’m a combination wisdom keeper and shadow seeker. Right now I’m consuming everything I can read, listen to, watch, and just generally absorb to get me in touch with the shadow side of reality and beyond reality. What lies hidden, what lies beneath, what secrets will be revealed? LeGuin wrote that light is the left hand of darkness and so that means darkness is the right hand of light. So many people only want to look at the light side but you cannot be a real witch or even a real person until you learn to use both your hands.🙌
Hey! Thanks so much for that. I love the Hermit. Oracle Artist here
. I have to say, that's spot on. I have to remind myself about that more often.
Your soul expresses through creation. You channel the unseen into words, art, and sacred symbols. Yes. Thank you again.
